Centro de Investigación y Estudios&nbspMusicales (CIEM). Mexico City, Mexico. It is a private institution dedicated to research music teaching. The center has a professional section that gives three degrees:&nbspComposition, Instrumental Performance and Pedagogy. There is a children's section that takes care of children from the ages of 18 months to 14 years. In every group there is a child with Dow syndrome.&nbspIn both departments Mexican folk music plays a very important role.  

CIEM has a group formed by children and youths who have traveled the world performing the songs fro&nbspthe Mexican countryside:&nbspsones of all kinds, pirecuas, valonas, Zapotec songs, cardenche songs, etc. 

CIEM has spent over 25 years educating musicians, especially composers. CIEM's studies are recognized by the Royal School of Music (London) and Trinity College (England). Center for Popular Music, Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, USA. An archive and research center for the study of American popular music.&nbspIts mission is to promote research and scholarship in American vernacular music, and to foster an understanding and appreciation of America's diverse musical culture. 


Centro Andaluz de Flamenco

Centro Andaluz de Flamenco (Andalusian Flamenco Center), Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. Its&nbspobjectives are:

  • The preservation and promotion of the Andalusian people's literary, artistic and musical works related with Flamenco singing, dancing and guitar playing. 

  • To research, recover, teach and promote the Andalusian artistic values by way of panels, seminars, courses, round tables and other events that will focus on Flamenco, as well by means of specialized publications, essay magazines, etc. 

  • To collect and preserve most documents, objects and elements related with Flamenco, such as books, historical documents, as well as sound, film and literary&nbspreproductions that will help to perpetuate the history of Flamenco. 


Ethnomusicology Research Institute. Founded in 2002, ERI is a private research center that promotes, preserves and researches traditional and popular ethnic music from around the world. It has a small, but ever-expanding multimedia collection of traditional and contemporary music on compact disc. Its future and/or on-going projects include a collection of musical recordings from every country in the world, ethnomusicology journalism, instrument collection and regional research. The center is also interested in conducting research/collaborating with other individuals in the areas of books, CDs, documentaries or world music videos. The institute's director is Matthew J. The Venezuelan Fundación de Etnomusicología y Folklore (FUNDEF), is an institution dedicated to the research, preservation and promotion of Venezuelan, South American, Central American and Caribbean traditional cultures. It is a&nbspfoundation that belongs to the Consejo Nacional de la Cultura (CONAC). FUNDEF houses one of the largest collections in the Americas.
