Artist biographies

Please use the online form available for musicians. This form will ask you to enter the biography, photos, discography, booking information and other details.  Please do not send us interviews or articles published by other publications unless you have written permission to reproduce them. We cannot reproduce copyrighted articles without permission.

We will only add world music artists and any other form of roots music. If you play straight ahead pop, hip hop, jazz or rock, you do not belong in a world music database. However, we will gladly add a link to your site in our links area. For links, click here.

Biographies should be written in past tense and third person.  For example: He appeared at the arts festival in Tucson in 2002.  Biography submissions should never be written in all capital letters.   Biographies should include a description of the artist's musical style and the names of all the musicians and the instruments they play.  Biographies need not be long, but should include something about the artist's musical education and career highlights.  Brief quotations by the artist or interesting anecdotes can also be added.  Please do not just create lists of achievements; again please use complete sentences.  Artists should be aware that any extravagant descriptions like "the best" or "the most popular" will be edited out, as these pages are intended as biographies and not reviews.  We know that all the artists on World Music Central are wonderful, but these accolades should be saved for CD reviews.

If you already have a biography on World Music Central, but would like to add an update to or amend your biography, please email it in the body of the email to Send Email.  Please use the words 'update biography' in the subject line of the email with the artist's name.

Biographies will not appear automatically. An editor will review them first, before publication, so do not submit more than once.

You can upload the text and photos here. And if photos require a credit, make sure you give us the name of the photographer.

Event Calendar

Add concerts, festivals, conferences and other events by clicking on Calendar. Enter as many events as you like. Our volunteer staff does not have the time to enter hundreds of individual concerts that are parts of tours. It is up to booking agents or artists to enter this information themselves. An editor will review them first, before publication. Please do not use capital letters.

Links

Links can be added here. Notice: we will not add world music artists, festivals, or venues to the links area. Artists get listed in the Artist biographies section. Festivals and venues get listed in the Resources area. An editor will review the links first, before publication. Please do not use capital letters.
